Carlsbad Medical Center provides breast health services for women and encourages self-exams and routine screenings. We utilize 3D imaging technology that may detect breast cancer at the earliest stages when treatment can be most effective. 3D mammography provides improved visibility of breast tissue and is clinically proven to significantly increase the detection of breast cancers, and also decrease the number of women asked to return for additional testing.
Who Should Have a 3D Mammo?
Guidelines recommend yearly mammograms starting at age 40. If older than 75 the benefits should be discussed with your physician. If you are younger than 40 years of age, you will need an order from your physician for a screening or diagnostic mammogram.

Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. An order from a physician or qualified healthcare provider is not required, but the patient must provide a physician/provider name when an appointment is made. Each month, our prenatal education team will meet with expectant parents to go over all aspects of childbirth. Our courses cover a variety of topics, including childbirth preparation, breastfeeding classes and natural childbirth.
We ask all expectant parents to attend childbirth education classes at about 32 weeks of pregnancy. Classes are free; however class sizes are limited and advance registration is required.
